Date: 15th September 2023
Time: 10:00 – 12:00
Duration: 2 Hours
Fire Safety Matters magazine will be partnering with leading industry lawyer Warren Spencer to deliver a special two-hour webinar on the way in which the amendments to the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order are likely to be enforced.
The webinar will take place on 15 September 2023 at 10:00am and will be hosted by Warren Spencer (managing director of Blackhurst Budd Solicitors), who has prosecuted and defended more cases under the Fire Safety Order than any other lawyer.
Following publication of the new fire safety regulations, the next step in the Government’s overhaul of fire safety legislation will be the implementation of Section 156 of the Building Safety Act 2022, which will substantially amend the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Those amendments will come in to force on 1st October 2023.
The proposed amendments will significantly affect articles 9, 11, 21, 22 and 50 of the Fire Safety Order. Risk assessments will have to be carried out and then delivered in a written format, while certain information will have to be recorded and passed on to other ‘Responsible Persons’. There will also be specific amendments in relation to fire safety enforcement in higher-risk buildings.
During the course of this webinar, Warren Spencer will outline how the significant amendments are likely to be enforced by Fire and Rescue Services. He will examine the way in which these amendments will affect the issuing of enforcement and Prohibition Notices; the obtaining of information through Article 27 letters; and the impact upon responsible persons, fire risk assessors, fire alarm companies and other fire industry professionals.
